Date:   May 6, 2010
Day:    Thursday
Time:  8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
At:      Partners International, 1117 E. Westview Court, Spokane, WA 99218

Limited to just 25 ministry CEOs and senior pastors (you must report to your board), the popular CEO Dialogues have been the place CEOs turn to, across the country, when asking the really hard questions…that need straight answers…from other CEOs who really understand what you’re going through. It’s NOT a talking-heads day…it’s a refreshingly, honest off-the-record day of interaction, networking and learning from each other. We have a robust line-up of resource people—ready to listen and interact with you all day.

INVITATION COMMITTEE:
• Jim Canning, World Vision International (Retired)
• Foster Chase, The CashLINQ Group
• Jon Lewis, Partners International
• Al Lopus, Best Christian Workplaces Institute
• R. Scott Rodin, OneAccord Partners

CO-FACILITATORS:
• Al Lopus, President & Co-Founder, Best Christian Workplaces Institute (Mercer Island, Wash.)
• John Pearson, President, CEO Dialogues, Inc. & John Pearson Associates (San Clemente, Calif.)

7 ESSENTIAL AXIOMS FOR CEO EFFECTIVENESS
JON LEWIS

A VERY SPECIAL FOCUS OF THIS CEO DIALOGUES DAY
will be a discussion on CEO effectiveness led by Jon Lewis, President/CEO of Partners International. Jon was previously with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) where he served in various positions for 26 years, including missionary pilot in Africa and more recently as Vice President of Research and Planning.  He earned a Masters degree in Solid State Physics at the University of Minnesota, but then felt a clear call to mission aviation which led him to MAF in 1977.

It was flying to and serving the remote, isolated communities of Central Africa that stirred up in Jon a passion for enabling indigenous church leaders, often unknown or forgotten by others. Today, he is seeing his dream fulfilled by carrying out Partners International’s mission of bringing networks of God's people together in fruitful partnerships for the advancement of God's Kingdom.

Jon will facilitate a Q&A on “7 Essential Axioms for CEO Effectiveness.”  We’ll ask every participant to share their best practices (and memorable failures!) and what we’ve learned from all of this.

CO-FACILITATOR: AL LOPUS

One of our co-facilitators for the day will be Al Lopus, President and Co-Founder of the Best Christian Workplaces Institute, founded in 2002. The Institute provides research-based measurement tools and strategic advisory services with a single vision: to help Christian organizations set the standard as the best, most effective workplaces in the world.

At BCWI, Al has conducted the broadest-ever employee opinion survey of Christian workers. The comprehensive survey includes more than 400 Christian organizations representing over 80,000 full time employees. In addition, BCWI launched the Best Christian Workplaces in Canada survey in 2004.

Al is a recognized author, speaker and consultant on the topic of developing organizations into better, more effective workplaces. For several years he directed the analysis of Washington’s Best Companies to Work For, and Oregon’s 100 Best Companies to Work For programs. He was responsible for completing employee surveys of over 800 companies in these “Best Companies" programs. As a result, Al has developed a research-based diagnostic model designed to improve the ability of organizations to attract, retain and motivate their human talent.

Prior to co-founding BCWI, Al served for 21 years in several leadership roles in Dallas, Denver and the Northwest with the global human resource consulting firm, Watson Wyatt. Al's success as a manager is due to his vision and implementation of human capital programs focused on the delivery of high quality services to clients. He was known for creating and leading a "jerk-free environment." Al's clients included: The Boeing Company, Safeco, PACCAR, Alaska Airlines, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Hynix Semiconductor, Regence Blue Cross, Tektronix, USAA and Virginia Mason Medical Center.

Al is also on the Board of Directors of the Christian Leadership Alliance. For Virginia Mason Medical Center, a 5,000-employee healthcare organization, Al serves as Chairman of the Board of Governors and is a member of the Board of Trustees.

CO-FACILITATOR: JOHN PEARSON

Our other co-facilitator, John Pearson, president of John Pearson Associates, Inc., is a management consultant to nonprofit ministries and author of Mastering the Management Buckets: 20 Critical Competencies for Leading Your Business or Nonprofit (www.ManagementBuckets.com).  John served previously as the CEO of three national associations: Christian Camp and Conference Association, Willow Creek Association and Christian Management Association (now Christian Leadership Alliance). He also serves as president of CEO Dialogues, Inc.
